About

Kazuki Mitsuyama
PhD Candidate (Biochemistry)

Born in 1998 and originally from Nagasaki, Japan, I discovered rowing in high school and continued rowing at Sendai University. Through competitive sports, I became interested in nutrition as a key determinant of performance and pursued research on athletic performance and eating behaviors using sports nutrition and data analysis. As I dug deeper into the “why” behind field-driven questions, my interests expanded toward the metabolic and gene-regulatory mechanisms underlying nutrition, which led me to transition into biochemistry and basic research. I am currently a PhD student at the Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine, where I study cellular functions at the intersection of MAT2B-regulated SAM metabolism, redox biology, and epigenetic regulation (redox–epigenetics). Ultimately, I aim to integrate sports nutrition, data analytics, and molecular biochemistry to bridge real-world questions with mechanistic understanding and actionable interventions.
